Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree by date of employment.
Minimum Experience Successful playing and/or coaching experience.
Minimum Other Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the university’s auto fleet policy.
Authorization to work in the US Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.

Preferred Education Preferred Experience Three to five years of collegiate coaching experience.
Preferred Other Pre-Employment Screening Requires successful completion of a Drivers License check, Requires successful completion of a background check and education verification.

edu Duties & Responsibilities Ranking 1 Job Duty Act in the absence of the Head Football Coach.
Ranking 2 Job Duty Perform duties in all areas of the program at the direction of the head coach, athletic director or sport supervisor.
Ranking 3 Job Duty Develop, in conjunction with the head coach, planning of practice sessions and competitive coaching situations.
Ranking 4 Job Duty Assess and evaluate talent and recruitment of athletes in to the program; includes, contact by telephone and mail; off campus evaluations; on campus visits.
Ranking 5 Job Duty Develop scouting reports and pre-competition evaluations of opponents.
Ranking 6 Job Duty Make recommendations in regard to fund raising, promotion and marketing, special projects, clinics and camps.
Ranking 7 Job Duty Represent the athletic department at alumni functions and/or donor functions in regard to increasing ticket sales for the football program.
Ranking 8 Job Duty Monitor, in conjunction with the head coach, the academic progress, the conditioning, and the training of the student-athletes.
Ranking 9 Job Duty Show commitment to and responsibility for adherence to all rules and regulations of Ball State University, the Mid-American Conference, and the NCAA.
Ranking 10 Job Duty Oversee the establishment, development, and implementation of a game plan for defensive situations.
Ranking 11 Job Duty Oversee the practice plans, practice formats, playbooks, game plans and scouting reports as they pertain to the defensive scheme of football.
Ranking 12 Job Duty Oversee every aspect of situational and contingency planning as it pertains to the defensive unit.
Ranking 13 Job Duty Primary conduit between head coach and assistant coaches with regards to defensive format, defensive staff structure, and game day calls.
Ranking 14 Job Duty Perform other related duties as assigned.
