Job Title: Assistant Principal, Pendleton Heights Middle School Location: South Madison Community School Corporation Contract Days: 220 Days Initial Contract: 2 Years Job Description: Pendleton Heights Middle School is an Indiana 4-Star comprehensive middle school located in southern Madison County, Indiana.
The Assistant Principal works collaboratively with the administration team to make sure all operations of the school are carried out to establish and maintain an effective school learning climate, focused on student achievement and career and college readiness.
Job Qualifications: -Successful secondary teaching experience -Current Indiana School Administrator License -Student outcomes focused -Strong organizational skills -Effective communication skills -Instructional and productivity technology literate Preferences: - Experience and knowledge of Special Education procedures and protocols -Experience with Professional Learning Communities - Experience in a blended learning environment - Knowledge of teaching methods, educational pedagogy and behavior management methods successful in school environments at the secondary level Position Requirements: Culture of Achievement: - Collaboratively develop and implement a shared vision and mission -Collect and use data to identify goals, assess organizational effectiveness, and promote organizational learning - Create and implement plans to achieve goals - Promote continuous and sustainable improvement -Monitor and evaluate progress and revise plans Instructional Leadership: - Nurture and sustain a culture of collaboration, trust, learning, and high expectations -Create a comprehensive, rigorous, and coherent curricular programs -Create a personalized and motivating learning environment for students - Supervise instruction -Develop assessment and accountability systems to monitor student progress - Develop the instructional and leadership capacity of staff -Maximize time spent on quality instruction - Promote the use of the most effective and appropriate technologies to support teaching and learning -Monitor and evaluate the impact of the instructional program - Evaluate and provide feedback to certified staff Management and Operations: - Monitor and evaluate the management and operational systems -Obtain, allocate, align, and efficiently utilize human, fiscal, and technological resources - Promote and protect the welfare and safety of students and staff -Develop the capacity for distributed leadership -Ensure teacher and organizational time is focused to support quality instruction and student learning - Supervise extra-curricular activities -Evaluate and provide feedback to classified staff - All other duties assigned by the building Principal Building Relationships / Family and Community Engagement: - Collect and analyze data and information pertinent to the educational environment - Promote understanding, appreciation, and use of the community's diverse cultural social and intellectual resources - Build and sustain positive relationships with families and caregivers - Build and sustain productive relationships with community partners Personal Behavior / Core Professionalism: - Ensure a system of accountability for every student's academic and social success -Model principles of self-awareness, reflective practice, transparency, and ethical behavior -Safeguard the values of democracy, equity, and diversity - Consider and evaluate the potential moral and legal consequences of decision-making - Promote social justice and ensure that individual student needs inform all aspects of schooling Political, Social, Economic, Legal, Cultural/Resource Management: - Advocate for children, families, and caregivers -Act to influence local, district, state, and national decisions affecting student learning - Assess, analyze, and anticipate emerging trends and initiatives in order to adapt leadership strategies Travel Requirements: -Travel to school district buildings, professional meetings, and extra-curricular events as required This is not necessarily an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties, requirements, efforts, functions or working conditions associated with the job.
