Job Purpose
Provide electrical, mechanical, and locomotive familiarization training.
Training will be on PRM equipment that will include familiarization, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PRM locomotives.

Key Job Elements • Provide comprehensive instruction of the Progress Rail locomotive electrical system and show expertise in the subject and present with enthusiasm; • Lead classes in the instruction of electrical schematics, WRL, wire routings, terminations practices, print reading, gauge and tool usage, safety, software usage for job tasks, AI (apparatus instructions), ETI (engineering test instructions); • Develop technical courses, update, and revise existing course content while developing instructional videos (when needed) to compliment and support training needs; • Ensure course content is current, accurate, and aligned with FRA, ISO 9001:2015, AAR, and company rules and regulations; • Review and edit technical publications, work instructions, and standard operating procedures; • Develops recommendations for service procedures; • Evaluate customer satisfaction responses with Customer Quality Engineering and recommend improvements of course content; • Perform administrative duties associated with development of course materials and delivery and reporting on instruction; • Frequent contact with others outside the work group to assess the effectiveness of the training courses and administer retraining as needed for work force; • Work involves considerable amount of creativity, perception, and initiative with wide latitude for independent action.
Essential and Physical Activities Functions: • Strength – Minimal lifting requirement.
Frequent sitting.
Occasional standing, walking; • Motion – Employee will be moving during training and presentations and sitting when in the office; • Vision/Hearing Requirements – Constant communications, including both talking and hearing; • Work Environment – The majority of the time, they will be working in an office setting, some time spent on production floor, with potential to exposure to different weather conditions; • Emotional Demands – Ability to lead and communicate with customers and team members.
Ability to work with a team; • Safety – Position is primarily limited to general office safety requirements.
Employee will occasionally be out in production plant, which requires use of proper PPE.
Education / Training • Electrical and mechanical aptitude to understand locomotive and mechanical and electrical systems and technical operation.
Qualifications and Experience • Product knowledge along with mechanical and electrical aptitude; • Experience developing training materials, assessing needs of customers; • Relatively high level of analytical ability where problems are complex; • High level of oral and technical writing skills; • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others; • Excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication, and conflict management skills; • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills; • Excellent computer skills (MS Office suite).
Preferred Skills • 10+ years hands on experience maintaining locomotive systems.
